Family Housing Program

We are committed to serving Greene, Preble and Montgomery counties through disaster response and relief.  One of our relief efforts is met through our Housing Programs: The Green County Housing Program located at 1080 East Main Street in Xenia and the Red Cross Family Living Center located at 829 South Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton.  Both have been serving the Dayton Area for almost twenty years. 

Greene County Housing was founded in 1990.  Established in partnership with the Greene County United Way, this program currently houses approximately 60 families a year.  Each unit is utilized for an average of 45-50 nights per family.

In 2008, the program added several transitional housing units, for families staying more than 6 months, further expanding the use of this facility and the growth of the Red Cross mission in the Dayton Area!  For additional information, please call 937-376-3111 or contact Director Penny Madry-Johnson at pjohnson@dac.redcross.org. 

The Red Cross Family Living Center (RCFLC) formerly known as the Montgomery County Emergency Housing Program (EHP) was founded in 1981 to help combat the growing problem of homelessness in Greater Dayton. More than 30 families a month are referred to the Red Cross’s local emergency housing program because of fires and carbon monoxide leaks, displacements from condemned dwellings, evictions and utility shut offs.  

With 36 apartment units offered through the program families reside in the units for 50 days to a year.
